Product positioning

The System x3350 server is positioned as the entry 1U server of the System x rack-optimized product portfolio, filling a large one-socket/two-socket gap and enabling users to run applications like e-mail and collaboration, Web serving, and Javatm applications on a single-socket server.

This single-socket solution
incorporates the enhanced RAS and management features often found only in a dual-socket solution at a price point much closer to that of current single-socket solutions. These include:

The System x3350 server incorporates Intel Xeon processors with EM64T and dual-core or quad-core models. New Intel 64-bit extensions provide increased productivity, performance, and reliability for applications that can take advantage of 64-bit extensions.

With EM64T, you can run Intel-compatible software in either 32- or 64-bit extension mode. EM64T enables 64-bit extensions, allowing applications to address more memory and up to 1333 MHz FSB, which speeds up information access within the system.

Users can contact their software provider to determine their software support for EM64T and dual-core computing.
